After last year success, Mestre Val is offering another 6 weeks course in Afro Brazilian Dance Classes.

When: Monday evenings
Dates: 10th January(start date) until 14th February(final class).
Where: Filhos da Bahia Academy in COLLINGWOOD
Time: 8pm to 9pm
Cost: 6 week prepaid session $72(save $18) or drop in rate $15 per class

To confirm that the class will go ahead, we will need at least 8 students to sign up for the program and prepay, so please show your support and email mestreval@capoeirafdb.com  The class is open to everyone, so please tell friends and family.

Come workout and have fun with us.

As a guest teacher, we will have a Professional Afro-Cuban Dancer come in to teach one of the classes.

A friendly reminder that next Saturday 2nd of October, we have been invited to have a RODA at the local Fitzroy Markets (Fitzroy Primary School)

Our Roda start at 1pm, which means we will have to leave the school straight after class by 12.35pm
Not Capoeira Clothes is allowed, let’s have a Street Capoeira RODA, like in the old Brasil time.

….Let’s kick off this Spring season with muito AXE!!! Let’s play lots of Capoeira and enjoy the sun in tropical Melbourne whilst supporting the local community!!

Also from Next Monday 4th of October we will have a Brazilian Afro Dance Class 8 until 9PM

DAY OF THE CAPOEIRISTA – OPEN RODAS & FREE WORKSHOPS FOR ALL FIRST-TIME STUDENTS & GUESTS

On the 3rd of August in Brasil, it is the ‘Day of the Capoeirista’ (Dia do Capoeirista). On this day, we commemorate the existence of Capoeira and Capoeiristas from all walks of life. In celebration of this day, we will be holding free rodas and workshops next week. This is an opportunity for inactive capoeiristas to come back and rekindle their connection to Capoeira and for anyone who may be interested in trying out Capoeira to give it a go!

Dear Filhos Da Bahia,

I want to thank you once again for your fantastic contribution to our multicultural festival at Temple Beth Israel this past Sunday.  What a wonderful way to begin the festival – so much energy, skill and joy in your dancing!  It’s clear how much you all delight in your “dialogue of movement and interaction”.  Thanks, too, for stepping it more or less at the last minute.  It’s deeply appreciated.

I do hope we’ll have the pleasure of enjoying your performance again sometime.  I think you made a lot of converts to capoeira that afternoon!

You may like to know that the festival was a great success.  Though numbers started modestly, we estimate that by the end 400-450 people came through the synagogue, and at one point there were 300 in the hall – it was really packed!

Thank you for contributing to the spirit of fellowship and mutual pleasure in culture that we created together.
