On an island in The Channel Islands in the UK, Jersey Capoeira Association, headed by local ‘Corujinha’ Corrine Davey, are preparing to Host Mestre Val Boa Morte in JULY at their Brazilian Capoeira Festival 3-6 JULY 2015.
At this event, the Jersey Capoeira students will have the opportunity to be graded by Mestre Val Boa Morte & Capoeira Filhos da Bahia.
Currently, Corujinha is at CFdB Grade 10 – already a Capoeirista & already teaching Capoeira in a new place, she is well on her way to achieving the first level of CFdB MONITOR.
‘Corujinha’ which means ‘Little Owl’ found a Capoeira home with Capoeira Filhos da Bahia having studied with Mestre Val in Melbourne, Australia for 4 years, having trained Capoeira with various groups for a total of 15 years, before returning home to Jersey, where she began teaching Capoeira classes and creating the Jersey Capoeira Association.
With a passion for Latin-based European languages, having studied them at University in the UK, Corujinha has been well equipped to learn & teach Languages such as Spanish & Portuguese and embark on a career as a Capoeira teacher, sharing various cultural artforms she has learned along the way, beginning in the UK and with her travels through South America & Brazil, amongst other places.
As an advocate for Brazilian culture, she continues to inspire others with her passion for Brazilian Artforms through hosting her Brazilian Capoeira Festival in Jersey, UK in 2015.
